KC Chiefs Offseason Review
Hey RZ, welcome to The Kingdom where we’ll be discussing everything related to your Redzone Kansas City Chiefs. We’re a couple preseason games into the new cycle so I thought it best to give you a quick update on our preseason so far.
Our offense, as expected, will be relied upon to win us games this season. With Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, Damien Williams and rookie Mecole Hardman , this offense haste potential to be the most explosive offense this coming season. Additionally, the Chiefs added veteran TE Jermaine Gresham as well as rookie WR Jamal Custis, who we expect to be huge targets in Redzone situations. The only weakness I see with this offense is their offensive line which will feature rookie Center Nick Allegretti, a 7th round pick from Illinois. Allegretti has the tools to be great and with Mitchell Schwartz mentoring the young lineman, the Chiefs hope he can quickly adjust as the season moves along.
While there’s high expectations on offense, there are plenty of questions on defense. The Chiefs defense will be led by Tyrann Matthieu, Chris Jones, and Kendal Fuller. This group on paper ranks towards the bottom of the league, but they hope to break expectations this coming season with the addition of rookie Safety Juan Thornhill. Thornhill was a standout at Virginia and thus far he seems to be developing into a much needed star on defense. The Chiefs also improved their secondary by adding speedy CB Jonathan Jones from the Patriots. Jones has overtaken Bashaud Breeland for the starting spot and his speed is expected to match up against the faster WRs in the league. The defense will be the concern each week and their long term success will depend on how they can improve throughout the season.
That’s it for this edition of The Kingdom. We look forward writing more articles throughout this season. Till next time Redzone.
