Chiefs Win their Opening Divisional Game against the Raiders

The only thing better than starting 2-0 is improving to 2-0 after our division rival Raiders. We came out the gates ready for this one as we quickly went up 16 points in the first quarter and we never looked back wining the game with a final score of 36-15. Due to the pace of the league we’ll quickly dive in to what we did well offensively and defensively.

Week 2 Stats vs the Raiders
Week 2 Stats vs the Raiders

Offense

While everyone is concerned with Tyreek Hill and his 99 spd, people somehow forget we also have Travis Kelce who torched the Raiders defense in this one. Kelce finished the game with 9 receptions for 135 yards and 2 TDs. This offense was firing on all cylinders and even rookie WR Mecole Hardman is beginning to find his stride collecting 6 catches for 68 yards. This offense will need to perform with this same intensity when they take on the Ravens in the following week.

Defense

Once again this defense continues exceed expectations only allowing 13 points in the game. Derek Carr was held to 255 yards passing 1 touchdown and 1 interception. However, the biggest win for this defense is the success they had in shutting down the Raiders best player in Antonio Brown. Brown finished the game with 3 catches for 53 yards. The gameplan was to take him out of the game and our Chiefs defense did just that. Rookie FS Juan Thornhill was the key to shutting down Brown as he double teamed brown the majority of the game. Thornhill came away with another interception showing signs of being an elite defensive back in this league. This defense will need to do same next week if they wish to come away victorious when they face the Baltimore Ravens.

Post Game Interview

After the game, we caught up with Coach Killah to see what he thought of his team’s performance.

Coach what do you think you could have done better in this game?

Maybe catch more of the open passes that we dropped. AB specially…

What’s your game plan for next week?

Our game plan is not having to worry about Kelce.

Thanks for your time Coach.

Final Thoughts

Kelce and the Defense lead the way against the Raiders, but at the end it was the execution of our gameplan that secured our victory. Shutting down the best player on the opposing team is no easy task and we’ll have to do the same with Lamar Jackson next week when we face the Ravens.
